FARMING UPDATE:

Harvest 2021 will officially be wrapping up this month after endless hours of working through the night, fixing grape harvesting machines and securing the fruits of our labor (literally.) Harvesting takes place usually during the night because daytime temperatures change the sugar composition of grapes, so picking at night when sugar levels are stable keeps surprises from happening during fermentation.

We have started producing wines made with this year's harvest, so keep your eye out for brand new wines and new vintages to be rolled out here in a few months! Our goal is for you to always taste the love and personal care in our wines-we truly are passionate about our mastery of grapes. Once harvest is over, we will continue the cycle of taking care of the vines through the next few seasons and getting them prepped for next year's fruit. One way we are already prepping the vines is by doing post-harvest foliar feeds. All this does is give the soil and the plants a solid nutrient foundation for next season and helps keep everything healthy for when the vines go dormant later this year.

Calling The Clean Up Crew:

We don't get every single grape from harvests, but any accidental leftovers are feeding the wildlife and the soil. Soon the vineyards will be picked clean, leaving us a clean slate of plots to work with.

Wine Of The Month:

2019 Wild Ferment Pinot Noir

strawberry • fig • blackberry

This wine showcases beautiful New Mexican fruit and indigenous yeast due to an atypical production process that lets the yeast do the work! This style of winemaking can be traced back to 400 years ago, making this bottle wise in its years. Notes of bright strawberry and blackberry are complimented with nuances of fig leaving you with a fruit forward satisfying finish.

FARMING UPDATE:

July is officially here, and we are loving the cool afternoon rainstorms to pair wine sipping on the porch with. The grapes are beginning to transform as their tiny flowers have been pollinated and have grown in to small, green clusters of hard berries into what we will soon recognize as grapes! New Mexicans get really excited about rain but so do the vines! The vineyards are soaking up the extra moisture and are enjoying a well deserved break from the hot sun. A healthy amount of shade, sun exposure, humidity and dryness are all essential components that determines the success of the crop yield. Grape growing is a tedious game of luck, risk and strategy, but New Mexico's weather pattern captures all those things-sometimes in one day!

June Newsletter

June is officially here and that means warm days, rainy afternoons, and cool evenings! Our Engle Vineyard is weathered and tough in its years, and it soaks up the warm sun gladly. Some even say that the dry desert climate is what makes our grapes so unique and authentic. As the grapes continue to grow, the team is working on improvements and experimentation in the farming side of things! We planted 3,000 new vines in Engle to introduce new varietals we can grow and hopefully enjoy in a few years! Some of these new vines were planted with different root stocks, to see if they are even more drought tolerant and cold resistant.

Another project in the vineyard we are working on is inoculating the new vines with mycorrhizae, a fungus which grows in association with the roots of a plant in a symbiotic relationship, to help colonize good bacteria in the soil at the root zone. In other news, when the vines start to grow, the deer and antelope take that as a dinner invitation and munch on the leaves like its their own salad bar.

April Newsletter

Happy April you wine lovers! This month is great for embracing environmentally friendly practices and sustainable farming, as our family comes from a long line of farmers that have always believed that if you love the land, it will love you back. Our love of the land influences everything we do and our environmental conservancy led us to embrace sustainable farming early on. Over the years, we've experimented with rootstocks, trellising systems, viticulture techniques and are constantly adapting to the harsh and unpredictable desert climate of our vineyards. All of these things put together set us up to make the best possible quality wine possible. April is the season of getting to witness the beginning of new life, as our vineyard emerges into bud break, marking the start of a bountiful growing season that largely depends on the methods and practices that we utilize.

This month's newsletter gives you a sneak peek into what happens behind the scenes at Noisy, and is packed full of information about featured products, events and what's to come!

An Emergence of Life

It is official, bud break has arrived! The season of Spring is officially here and the weather is getting warmer every day, creating perfect conditions for little baby buds to begin the early stages of a grape's life. Life on a New Mexican vineyard in the middle of the desert can be tumultuous on the vines and NM is prone to drastic weather changes overnight, so we are always on alert for a late season freeze that could significantly alter the growing course of the grapes! As soon as bud break occurs, the need to protect the young shoots from the deadly frost becomes a critical focus.

Vineyard farming is a type of farming that utilizes an older, and even ancient way of growing

These methods are also sustainable and eco-conscious! We get back to the roots of winemaking in our farming practices, as this is what influences the production of a high quality wine. Here is what we do to ensure this:

1. Build healthy soil: Making sure our soil is rich in microorganisms and organic matter that nourish the plant

2. Conserving water & biodiversity: We use drip irrigation to carefully control our water usage, and this encourages healthy flora that improves the habitat overall.

3. Controlling vineyard pests naturally: Thankfully Engle isn't prone to too many pests, but we do have an abundance of tarantula hawks that have to be controlled. We use owl and bird boxes to manage and you will never find any sprayed pesticides in the vineyard. Neem oil has also proven to be effective in keeping small insects away from our vines!

Wine Of The Month:

2019 Skin-Fermented Chardonnay

Also known as skin-contact chardonnay, skin-fermented chardonnay, amber chardonnay, or orange chardonnay - is a type of wine made from white wine grapes where the grape skins are not removed, as is typical in white wine production, but stay in contact with the juice for days or even months.

The Season Of Bud Break

March is the month when we typically see the vines bloom into life! As the season of Spring creeps in, the weather gradually gets warmer and the Earth starts to thaw, creating perfect conditions for little baby buds to begin the early stages of a grape's life.

Preparing the vineyard for new life is like preparing your home to bring home a newborn baby! Throughout the Winter we have improved our irrigation systems, ran soil tests, tuned up our farming equipment, and are currently pruning the vines to welcome the new buds back home. Doing these things helps us have a fresh start for the growing season and also encourages the buds to grow big and strong for a healthy harvest later in the year.

February Newsletter

Happy February you wine lovers! Did you know February comes from the Latin word februa, which means “to cleanse.” The month was named after the Roman Februalia, which was a month-long festival of starting fresh new beginnings that took place this time of year. We are right on time, because this month is all about getting in gear for a new growing season ahead! This month's newsletter gives you a sneak peek into what happens behind the scenes at Noisy, and is packed full of information about featured products and events this month!

Our Tough, Acclimated Vines at Engle Farms

February is typically the snowiest month on average in the United States, and it turns out that snow is one of the secret ingredients that produces a bountiful harvest!

Vines are still dormant, but we are beginning to prepare the vineyard to replant new vines at Engle by improving irrigation systems, preparing to start pruning our vines within the next few months before bud break, and tuning up farming and harvesting equipment. One of the ways we are improving our irrigation system is by adding magnetics to our water drip lines that considerably promoted fruit growth last year. The magnets have increased water retention in the soil, reduced hard water clogs in drip heads and allowed the vines to absorb larger amounts of hard to use minerals in the soil!

Virtual Release and Tasting

Take 20% off La Vida Dulce when you buy 6 or more bottles, now until the release!

2019 La Vida Dulce

Need A Valentine's Date Idea? We are virtually releasing our La Vida Dulce on Valentine's Day! (02/14) All you have to do is buy a bottle online or in store, and join our winemakers (virtually) as they guide you through sensory analysis and tasting.

The inviting aroma of red berries intertwined with marshmallow create a beautiful sweet bouquet as notes of milk chocolate, cinnamon, and vanilla continue on the palate that then finishes with a slight Red Chile spice! Enjoy this wine chilled and with your favorite dessert-we recommend chocolate covered strawberries.

This award-winning gourmet sauce is an exciting combination of blackberries and habanero with a wide variety of uses. We suggest the following: marinade, glaze, or dipping sauce for any kind of meat; salsa with chips; fresh fruit dip; with a brick of cream cheese as an appetizer; over ice cream, pancakes, waffles, or crepes! • Feel free to come see us or to call in an order for pick up! As of current, we are able to have wine tastings outdoors at 25% capacity!

We were so inspired that we have recreated this magical experience right in our little village tucked away in the mountains of New Mexico.  The market is open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays at Enchanted Vine!

  • Enchanted Vine and our tasting rooms across New Mexico serve as cozy little getaways during the Winter, and especially during ski season!  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌

 November is here!

November in the wine industry marks the conclusion of harvest and the beginning of wine making.  We are now transferring 2018 and 2019 red wines from barrel to bottle, and 2020 white wines from tank to bottle.  Keep your eyes open for new vintages - many will be coming out in the next few months as we make room in the winery for new wine!

It is likely that 2017 and 2018 vintages will be transferred to the library soon - don't forget to stock up on your favorites before they go on reserve!

Attn: this vintage of Pinot Noir is now in low supply...

2017 Pinot Noir

Explosive cherries with a backbone of dark fruit, perfectly married into a jammy, vanilla tannic finish.

$40.00  $30.00

2017 Pinot Noir pairs beautifully with something smokey!

Try it with Smoked Gouda...

Smoked Gouda

nutty • smokey • creamy • decadent

  $10.00

Guess what... We are officially out of 2018 Dolcetto!

2018 Dolcetto

Dolcetto translates to "little sweet one" - though this wine is not sweet, it is delicate and bright and certainly makes us feel sweeter!

  $35.00

It is gone for now, but not for long.

We'll be bottling the latest vintage of Dolcetto soon - stay tuned friends!

November also marks the beginning of truffle hunting season!

We honor this magical time of year by indulging in decadent truffle oil! Have you tried it?

It is amazing (obviously) on Italian dishes like risotto and pasta carbonara, but it is also wonderful for marinating meats, enhancing egg scrambles and hashes, and drizzling on popcorn with sea salt.

Check it out...

Black Truffle Oil

Cold pressed oil infused with black truffles.

  $30.00

The intense heat of summer brought harvest early this year. We spent much of the fall season drinking Uncle Dick's Hard Cider and playing frisbee golf after work at Enchanted Vine - the weather felt almost too nice late into October.  Then, out of no where, we had our first snow day of year! We spent the day snuggled up at home, pretending we couldn't possibly work, playing cards, and drinking our favorite snowy day wines!

This little taste of winter got us pretty excited for the holiday season. We can't wait for all the food, wine, and family time!

Don't forget to come see us at our wine production facility every Sunday for our weekly market!

October is here! Check out what we have going on this month at Noisy Water Winery.

What are we drinking this month?

→ Rosé ←

Why? Rosé is unique because it has the fruit-forward vibrancy of a white wine with the bold and comforting body of a red: it is a perfect match for the heartier meals we crave when the air turns crisp and cool.

Rosé with a dense stew on a cold evening - delicious. Rosé with pizza and wings on a lazy Sunday while watching football  - what a comfort.  Rosé with seafood and rice - my mouth is watering  just thinking about it.  Rosé while cozying up by the fireplace - yes… 100% yes.

Which Rosé will you be snuggling up with this October?

Give me dry!

2019 Ruidoso Rosé

Clean & Crisp:

with notes of tangy citrus and floral undertones.

$27.00

2019 Pinot Noir Rosé

Bold & Warming:

with a full mouth-feel and notes of bittersweet berries.

$27.00

Rose Heyyy

Bright & Crushable:

with a sassy kick of raspberries mid-palate and a subtle strawberry finish.

$24.00

Give me sweet!

2019 Black Muscat

Decadent & Silky:

with Muscat, one of the world's oldest grape varietals.

This garnet-colored rosé is rich with sweet wild berry and honeysuckle flavor. It is bold, fruit-forward, and comfortingly smooth.

  $24.00
