This port-like wine was made with Chenin Blanc (from the Forbidden Desert Vineyard in Engle, NM), which was fermented with grape skin exposure to create a skin-fermented or “orange wine”; then it was fortified with brandy. The result is a honey colored fortified wine, perfect to conclude a meal with. Alliance is reminiscent of crème brûlée, with notes of creamy caramel, explosive vanilla and honey. Nuances of sweet peach add a freshness to the palate and carry you to a toasted coconut finish.
The label depicts an image of a tarantula hawk, one of the many menacing creatures we’ve had to make an alliance with in the harsh conditions of the Forbidden Desert Vineyard.
